Overview

MXB-22,510 is a broad-spectrum anti-infective small molecule drug candidate being developed by Maxwell Biosciences using their proprietary CLAROMER technology platform. The drug is a synthetic peptoid (poly-N-substituted glycine oligomer) that mimics the antimicrobial peptide LL-37 from the human immune system. MXB-22,510 works through a novel mechanism of action that disrupts pathogen membranes, aggregates ribosomes and nucleic acids, and penetrates biofilms, demonstrating activity against multidrug-resistant bacteria, fungi, and enveloped viruses while sparing healthy human cells. The lead candidate is currently in IND-enabling preclinical studies and is being developed to treat chronic rhinosinusitis, Long COVID (through biofilm disruption), infectious dementia, post-viral syndromes, and brain fungal infections.
