Mycograb + docetaxel is an investigational combination regimen consisting of Mycograb (also known as efungumab), a recombinant human monoclonal antibody fragment targeting the heat shock protein 90 (hsp90), and docetaxel, a chemotherapy agent that promotes microtubule stabilization. Mycograb is proposed to inhibit hsp90 chaperone activity, leading to destabilization of proteins critical for tumor cell survival, including estrogen/steroid receptors, nitric oxide synthase, ras, MAP kinase, Src, HER kinases, and EGFR. Docetaxel is a taxane-class cytotoxic agent that inhibits mitosis. The combination has been evaluated for improved cytotoxicity in breast cancer cell lines and was investigated in clinical trials for advanced or metastatic breast cancer, hypothesizing potential synergistic anti-tumor effects due to dual targeting of protein homeostasis and microtubule dynamics[1][3][5].
