Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Myo-inositol + d-chiro-inositol is a combination of two stereoisomers of inositol—myo-inositol (MI) and d-chiro-inositol (DCI)—commonly used as a dietary supplement. Both compounds are involved in insulin signaling pathways but act on different cellular processes. The combination is most often administered in a physiological plasma ratio of 40:1 (MI to DCI). This blend has been shown to improve metabolic parameters, enhance ovarian function, and support hormone balance—especially in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), where it can reduce insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia. It also shows benefits for glycemic control in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The mechanism involves improving insulin sensitivity at the cellular level, supporting ovarian health by modulating androgen production and ovulation, and contributing to overall reproductive health[1][4][7][10]. The combination is generally well-tolerated with minimal side effects at recommended doses.
