Overview

This combination therapy, consisting of the nutritional supplements myo-inositol, melatonin, and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), is being evaluated in a Phase 3 clinical trial by Beni-Suef University for the treatment of poor ovarian response in women undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Myo-inositol acts as an insulin-sensitizing agent and a precursor for second messengers involved in oocyte maturation and quality. Melatonin serves as a potent antioxidant and a regulator of the follicular microenvironment through its receptors, protecting oocytes from oxidative damage. Coenzyme Q10 is a critical component of the mitochondrial electron transport chain, enhancing energy production and mitochondrial function within the oocyte. Together, these three nutraceuticals are intended to work synergistically to improve ovarian reserve markers, oocyte quality, and clinical pregnancy rates in patients with diminished ovarian reserve.
