Overview

N(G)-Iminoethylornithine (L-NIO) is a synthetic, experimental small molecule that belongs to the class of L-alpha-amino acids. It acts as a selective inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase 3 (NOS3, also known as endothelial nitric oxide synthase or eNOS). By inhibiting NOS3, it reduces the production of nitric oxide (NO), a key signaling molecule involved in vascular tone regulation and other physiological processes. The compound has been used primarily in research settings to study the role of NO in various biological systems and disease models[1][9]. There are no approved clinical indications for this drug.
