Overview

N,N'-diphenyl-1,4-phenylenediamine (DPPD) is a small molecule primarily recognized for its potent antioxidant properties. It has been investigated for its therapeutic potential in conditions involving oxidative stress, such as Type I diabetes, where it enhanced the therapeutic capabilities of adipose-derived stem cells, and in mitigating cisplatin-induced renal interstitial fibrosis. DPPD has also shown efficacy in inhibiting low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation, suggesting a potential role in atherosclerosis. Beyond its biological applications, DPPD is utilized in materials science, notably in the synthesis of metal-organic coordination polymers for dual-band electrochromic supercapacitors, and its electrochemical properties are leveraged for ammonia determination.
