N,N-dimethyltryptamine nicotinate is a novel salt form of the psychedelic compound N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT), in which DMT is paired with the counterion nicotinate (derived from niacin/vitamin B3). This salt form was developed to potentially improve physicochemical properties such as stability, efficacy, and safety compared to other DMT salts. DMT itself is a potent serotonergic hallucinogen that acts primarily as an agonist at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors and also interacts with sigma-1 receptors. The addition of the bioactive counterion, nicotinate, may provide additional neuronal activity or neuroprotective effects independent of DMT. This combination is being investigated for its potential use in treating acute ischemic stroke and possibly other neurological conditions[7][9].
