Overview

N‑({6‑[(4‑cyano‑2‑fluorobenzyl)oxy]naphthalen‑2‑yl}sulfonyl)‑D‑glutamic acid is a synthetic small molecule designed as an inhibitor of the bacterial enzyme UDP-N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanine–D-glutamate ligase, commonly known as MurD. This enzyme is essential in the biosynthesis of peptidoglycan, a critical component of bacterial cell walls. By inhibiting MurD, this compound disrupts cell wall formation and has potential antibacterial activity. It is primarily studied in preclinical or early experimental settings and has not been approved for clinical use[1][6]. The compound belongs to the class of glutamic acid derivatives.
