Overview

N-[3-(2,5-dimethoxybenzyloxy)-4-(methanesulfonyl-methylamino)phenyl]-2-naphthalenecarboxamide is a synthetic small molecule and a derivative of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) nimesulide. Developed as an anticancer agent, it is designed to selectively target the tubulin protein, which is essential for cell movement, structural integrity, and mitosis. By inhibiting tubulin, the compound disrupts microtubule dynamics, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in malignant cells. In preclinical studies, this compound has demonstrated potent, dose-dependent anti-proliferative activity against breast cancer (MDA-MB-468) and prostate cancer (DU145) cell lines, with IC50 values in the low nanomolar range (3.89 nM and 2.298 nM, respectively).
