N-[7-(3-Aminophenyl)-5-methoxy-1,3-benzoxazol-2-yl]-2,5-dichlorobenzenesulfonamide is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the benzenesulfonamides class. It was developed as an experimental compound and functions as a potent allosteric inhibitor of fructose 1,6-bisphosphatase 1 (FBPase 1), an enzyme involved in gluconeogenesis. By inhibiting FBPase 1 allosterically (i.e., at a site distinct from the active site), this compound reduces hepatic glucose production—a mechanism of interest for potential treatment of type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disorders. The compound has demonstrated submicromolar inhibitory activity in biochemical assays but has not advanced beyond preclinical or early research stages[1][4][5].
