This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of four agents: - **Nab-paclitaxel** (nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel), a solvent-free formulation of paclitaxel that acts as a microtubule inhibitor, disrupting cell division and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. - **Carboplatin**, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that causes DNA crosslinking and inhibits DNA synthesis, leading to cell death. - **Epirubicin**, an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates into DNA, inhibits topoisomerase II, and generates free radicals causing cytotoxicity. - **Cyclophosphamide**, an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA strands, preventing cell replication. This combination is primarily used as neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer—especially triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC)—to shrink tumors before surgery. Nab-paclitaxel offers improved safety over conventional paclitaxel by reducing hypersensitivity reactions. The regimen has demonstrated promising anti-tumor activity with acceptable tolerability in clinical studies[1][5].
