Overview
This combination regimen is a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) protocol developed for use in frozen embryo replacement (FER) cycles within assisted reproductive technology. It consists of nafarelin acetate, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist administered intranasally for pituitary down-regulation; oestradiol valerate, an estrogen administered orally to stimulate endometrial growth; and progesterone, administered vaginally to induce secretory transformation of the endometrium and support embryo implantation. The University of Oxford conducted a randomized controlled pilot study to compare the efficacy and patient satisfaction of this medicated HRT-FER protocol against natural cycle FER in women with regular menstrual cycles.
