Overview

NAL1279 is a transdermal patch formulation of lidocaine (4%) being developed by NAL Pharmaceutical Group for over-the-counter (OTC) pain management. As a local anesthetic, lidocaine acts by binding to and blocking voltage-gated sodium channels on the neuronal membrane. This blockade prevents the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses, thereby providing localized analgesic effects. The transdermal delivery system is designed to provide a controlled release of the active ingredient directly to the site of pain, minimizing systemic exposure. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
