Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Triple antiretroviral combination of **nelfinavir** (a protease inhibitor), **stavudine** (a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor, or NRTI), and **didanosine** (an NRTI) primarily used for the treatment of **HIV infection**. Nelfinavir inhibits HIV-1 protease, preventing viral polyprotein processing and maturation; stavudine and didanosine act as chain terminators by inhibiting HIV reverse transcriptase, blocking viral DNA synthesis. This regimen was a common early HAART (highly active antiretroviral therapy) approach, and is generally administered orally[1][2][3].
