Overview

The NEO Agent (PET) is a 68Ga-labeled radiopharmaceutical being developed by NeoIndicate for the molecular imaging of various solid tumors. It specifically targets the receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase mu (PTPµ/PTPRM), a cell surface adhesion molecule that is uniquely proteolyzed in cancer cells. This proteolysis creates specific fragments that accumulate in the tumor microenvironment and serve as highly selective biomarkers absent in healthy tissue. By conjugating a PTPµ-binding ligand with a 68Ga chelator, the agent enables high-resolution Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging to detect primary tumors and invasive cells that have migrated away from the main tumor mass. Originally developed at Case Western Reserve University, the technology is currently in preclinical development for multiple indications, including glioma, melanoma, and breast cancer, with clinical development rights sublicensed to Radiopharm Theranostics.
