neoadjuvant chemotherapy + SPIONs + SMF is an experimental combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of osteosarcoma. This regimen combines standard-of-care neoadjuvant chemotherapy (typically the MAP regimen consisting of methotrexate, doxorubicin, and cisplatin) with the intratumoral injection of Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (SPIONs) and the application of a Spinning Magnetic Field (SMF). The SPIONs are iron oxide-based nanoparticles that are activated by the SMF to enhance cancer cell death, potentially through mechanical disruption or localized hyperthermia. This approach is designed to increase tumor shrinkage and improve the feasibility of limb-salvage surgery for patients with various forms of osteosarcoma, including metastatic, localized, and high-grade cases. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial led by the Second Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University.
