Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This topical combination product contains neomycin sulfate, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, and fluocinonide, a potent synthetic glucocorticoid. Developed by Guilin Hwasun Pharmaceutical, it is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory skin disorders complicated by bacterial infections, such as infected eczema, contact dermatitis, and seborrheic dermatitis. Neomycin provides antibacterial activity by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis. Fluocinonide exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects through the activation of the glucocorticoid receptor, which modulates the transcription of genes involved in the inflammatory response. The formulation is typically applied topically as a cream to the affected area.
