Netilmicin + dexamethasone is a fixed-dose ophthalmic combination of an aminoglycoside antibiotic (netilmicin) and a corticosteroid (dexamethasone). It is primarily used for the treatment of ocular inflammatory conditions where there is a risk or presence of superficial bacterial infection. Dexamethasone acts as a potent anti-inflammatory agent by inhibiting the release of arachidonic acid and subsequent production of pro-inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
