Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NeuGcGM3 + VSSP is a cancer vaccine composed of the ganglioside NeuGcGM3 (N-glycolylneuraminic acid-containing GM3) combined with very small size proteoliposomes (VSSP), which are derived from the outer membrane protein complex of Neisseria meningitidis. The vaccine is typically formulated with an adjuvant such as Montanide ISA 51 to enhance immunogenicity. It is designed to induce an immune response against tumor cells expressing the NeuGcGM3 ganglioside, which is found on certain cancers but not in normal human tissues due to a genetic difference in sialic acid metabolism[1][4][6]. The mechanism involves stimulating both humoral and cellular immune responses, leading to antibody production and complement-mediated cytotoxicity against tumor cells[1][4].
