NeuroRegen scaffold + neural stem cells is a combination therapy designed for the repair of spinal cord injury (SCI). The therapy consists of the implantation of a linearly ordered collagen-based biomaterial scaffold (NeuroRegen) functionalized to support nerve regeneration, together with transplanted neural stem cells (NSCs). The scaffold provides structural support and a regenerative microenvironment that promotes axonal growth and inhibits scar formation. Neural stem cells contribute by differentiating into neurons and glial cells, secreting neurotrophic factors, modulating immune responses, promoting remyelination, and supporting axonal regeneration. This combination aims to enhance neuronal replacement and functional recovery after SCI. Clinical studies have demonstrated safety and feasibility in patients with chronic complete SCI; however, efficacy remains under investigation[1][2][5].
