Newxxitek HVT + ND is a **live vectored veterinary vaccine** for chickens developed by **Boehringer Ingelheim** to help prevent **Marek's disease** and **Newcastle disease**. The product uses **serotype 3 Marek's disease virus**, also known as **herpesvirus of turkeys**, as a viral vector carrying a genetic insert encoding the **Newcastle disease virus fusion protein**. After hatchery administration to either **18 to 19 day-old embryonated eggs** or **day-old chicks**, the vaccine is intended to induce protective immunity against both pathogens in broilers, replacement pullets, and breeder birds. It is a **frozen liquid nitrogen biologic** used in poultry production and was reported as launched in 2018 in velogenic Newcastle disease areas including Peru, Egypt, the Philippines, and Thailand.
