**Niacin extended-release + lovastatin** is an oral fixed-dose lipid-modifying combination formerly marketed in the United States as **Advicor**. It combines extended-release niacin, which lowers triglycerides and can raise HDL cholesterol, with lovastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that reduces hepatic cholesterol synthesis and increases LDL clearance. Advicor was approved for primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia as an adjunct to diet. FDA withdrew its NDA approval effective April 18, 2016, after determining that it had been withdrawn from sale for reasons of safety and effectiveness.
