Niacinamide + glycerin is a topical combination formulation designed to enhance skin barrier function and hydration. Niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, serves as a precursor to the coenzymes nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP), which are essential for cellular metabolism and the synthesis of epidermal lipids, such as ceramides. By increasing ceramide production, niacinamide strengthens the skin barrier and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Glycerin is a highly effective humectant that attracts water to the stratum corneum and is transported into skin cells via aquaporin-3 (AQP3) channels, further promoting hydration.
