MIB-626 is a proprietary, pharmaceutical-grade oral formulation of **beta-nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN)**, a direct precursor to **nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+)**. Developed by **Metro International Biotech**, MIB-626 is designed to elevate intracellular NAD+ levels, which naturally decline with age and are depleted during metabolic stress. By increasing NAD+ availability, the drug aims to activate **sirtuins** (specifically SIRT1), which are enzymes involved in DNA repair, mitochondrial biogenesis, and cellular metabolism. MIB-626 is currently being evaluated in multiple Phase 2 clinical trials for conditions including **Alzheimer's disease**, **Friedreich's ataxia**, and **acute kidney injury** associated with COVID-19, as well as for improving physical performance and muscle bioenergetics in both healthy young and older adults.
