Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PARAKRYP-N is a branded generic fixed-dose combination medication containing nimesulide and paracetamol (acetaminophen), developed and marketed by Kryptomed Formulations. Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that primarily functions as a selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby reducing the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Paracetamol serves as an analgesic and antipyretic agent, likely acting through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes in the central nervous system and modulation of endogenous cannabinoid and serotonergic systems. This combination is used for the management of acute pain, inflammatory conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, and the reduction of fever. While widely used in certain markets like India, nimesulide is restricted in many other regions due to concerns regarding hepatotoxicity.
