Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This combination regimen is a neoadjuvant therapy consisting of nimotuzumab, toripalimab, nab-paclitaxel, and carboplatin. Nimotuzumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), inhibiting downstream signaling pathways involved in tumor growth and survival. Toripalimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, enhancing the immune system's ability to detect and destroy cancer cells. Nab-paclitaxel is an albumin-bound nanoparticle formulation of paclitaxel that inhibits microtubule dynamics, while carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes DNA cross-linking. This multi-modal approach is being evaluated by Tang-Du Hospital as a neoadjuvant treatment for patients with resectable locally advanced tonsillar squamous cell carcinoma to improve surgical feasibility and clinical outcomes.
