Overview

Ningmitai (NMT) is a traditional Chinese medicine formulation used primarily for urogenital conditions such as chronic epididymitis and chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome. It has demonstrated efficacy in improving symptoms of chronic epididymitis and prostatitis in clinical studies[5][3]. The exact mechanism of action for Ningmitai is not fully elucidated but it is believed to have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Tamsulosin is a selective alpha-1A and alpha-1D adrenergic receptor antagonist that relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck, improving urinary flow and reducing symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), ureteral stones, prostatitis, and other lower urinary tract symptoms[2][6][7]. Tamsulosin does not shrink the prostate but alleviates obstruction by relaxing muscle tone. It was first approved by the FDA in 1997. The combination of Ningmitai + tamsulosin has been studied for use in patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome to improve symptom control[3].
