Overview
Nitrendipine + atenolol is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents used for the treatment of hypertension. Nitrendipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits voltage-dependent calcium channels (VDCCs), leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance. Atenolol is a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist (beta-blocker) that decreases heart rate, cardiac output, and renin release from the kidneys. The combination aims to provide additive or synergistic blood pressure reduction by targeting different physiological pathways involved in blood pressure regulation.
