Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination medication consisting of nitroglycerin and lidocaine. Nitroglycerin acts as a vasodilator by relaxing blood vessels, increasing blood flow and oxygen supply to tissues[4][6]. When applied topically, it causes local vasodilation without significantly affecting systemic blood pressure[2][7]. Lidocaine, on the other hand, acts as a local anesthetic, providing pain relief by temporarily numbing the affected area[3]. This combination is used for various applications including radial artery dilation prior to cardiac catheterization, treatment of anal fissures, and enhancement of intravenous regional anesthesia.
