Overview
**Effimia** is an Italian fixed-dose, monophasic combined oral contraceptive containing **norgestimate 0.250 mg** and **ethinylestradiol 0.035 mg** in each of 21 active tablets, accompanied by 7 inactive placebo tablets per 28-day pack. Norgestimate is a progestin with low androgenic activity and, together with the synthetic estrogen ethinylestradiol, suppresses ovulation, increases cervical-mucus viscosity, and produces endometrial changes that reduce the likelihood of fertilization and implantation.
