Overview

NOX1416 + SOC is an investigational therapeutic regimen consisting of a topical nitric oxide-releasing foam (NOX1416) administered alongside standard of care (SOC) for the treatment of chronic, non-healing diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). Developed by NOxy Health Products, NOX1416 is a two-component system comprising Solution A (citric acid) and Solution B (sodium nitrite). When mixed, these components generate gaseous nitric oxide (NO) within a microbubble foam. Nitric oxide is a critical mediator in the wound-healing process, providing antimicrobial properties, enhancing local vasodilation to improve perfusion, and stimulating cellular pathways involved in tissue repair. The formulation is applied topically to the wound bed for five minutes once daily. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development (NCT06402565) to evaluate its safety and potential to accelerate wound closure in patients with diabetes.
