Overview

NSAIDs + analgesics refers to the combination of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) with other analgesic agents, most commonly acetaminophen or opioid/non-opioid pain relievers. This combination is used to enhance pain relief by targeting different mechanisms in the body. NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen and naproxen, inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes involved in prostaglandin synthesis, thereby reducing inflammation and peripheral pain signaling. Analgesics like acetaminophen act primarily within the central nervous system to block pain transmission. When combined, these drugs provide additive or synergistic effects for managing mild to moderate pain and are often more effective than either agent alone[6][5]. Common indications include acute dental pain, musculoskeletal injuries, arthritis, and postoperative discomfort.
