Overview

Obicetrapib + atorvastatin is a combination of **obicetrapib** (a highly selective small molecule cholesteryl ester transfer protein [CETP] inhibitor) and **atorvastatin** (a high-intensity HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, commonly known as a statin)[1][4][5][7]. Obicetrapib inhibits CETP, decreasing the transfer of cholesterol from HDL-C to LDL-C and VLDL-C, which results in **increased HDL-C and lowered LDL-C, non-HDL-C, apolipoprotein B, and lipoprotein(a)**. Atorvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase to decrease hepatic cholesterol synthesis, upregulate LDL receptor expression, and increase LDL-C clearance. The combination is being investigated for **dyslipidemia and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD)** in patients who do not reach LDL-C targets on statin monotherapy. Clinical studies show the combination results in **potent LDL-C reduction (up to 50% or more), increased HDL-C, and decreased ApoB levels**[1][4][7].
