Octaplex + Riastab

Octaplex + Riastab is a combination therapy consisting of a four-factor prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC) and a human fibrinogen concentrate. Octaplex, developed by Octapharma, contains the vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors II, VII, IX, and X, as well as the antithrombotic proteins C and S. Riastab, manufactured by CSL Behring, provides purified human fibrinogen (Factor I). This combination is used to rapidly restore coagulation factor levels and fibrinogen concentrations in patients experiencing severe bleeding, such as postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), where traditional fresh frozen plasma (FFP) may be less efficient or slower to administer. The regimen was evaluated by Helsinki University Central Hospital in a Phase 4 clinical trial (NCT02184884) to compare its efficacy against FFP in the early management of massive obstetric hemorrhage.
