Overview

**OCU200 + ranibizumab** is an investigational combination therapy for retinal vascular diseases, specifically being studied for diabetic macular edema (DME). OCU200 is a novel fusion protein developed by Ocugen, combining human transferrin and human tumstatin, designed to exert anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidative effects, and selectively target retinal and choroidal tissues. Its mechanism involves enhanced bioavailability and tissue penetrance, with distinct binding to αVβ3 integrin pathways. Ranibizumab (branded as Lucentis) is a monoclonal antibody fragment targeting vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), inhibiting neovascularization and vascular permeability, and is approved for ocular diseases like wet age-related macular degeneration and DME. The combination is intended to be administered intravitreally and is investigated for enhanced efficacy and reduction of injection frequency compared to anti-VEGF monotherapy[3][5][6][7].
