Overview

Floxgin-IT is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed and manufactured by Gadin Biotech. It consists of ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, and itraconazole, a triazole antifungal agent. Ofloxacin functions by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for DNA replication and transcription, thereby exerting bactericidal activity. Itraconazole inhibits the fungal enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase (CYP51A1), leading to the depletion of ergosterol and the accumulation of methylated sterol precursors, which disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity. This combination is primarily used to treat mixed infections where both bacterial and fungal pathogens are present or suspected, such as in certain dermatological or pelvic inflammatory conditions.
