Overview

OIF + beta-tricalcium phosphate is a combination bone graft substitute consisting of a novel recombinant protein, **Osteogenic Induction Factor (OIF)**, and a bioresorbable ceramic scaffold, **beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP)**. Developed by **OsteoPharma**, OIF is a 12 kDa protein that induces the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into osteoblasts through a mechanism distinct from the well-known Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs). The β-TCP component serves as a biocompatible scaffold that supports cell attachment and is gradually replaced by natural bone tissue during the healing process. This combination is primarily being investigated for the treatment of complex bone fractures, distal radius fractures, and bone non-unions, aiming to provide an effective alternative to autologous bone grafting.
