Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This investigational topical cream is a combination of olive oil and omega-3 fatty acids developed by Assaf-Harofeh Medical Center for the treatment of chronic stasis dermatitis. The formulation leverages the anti-inflammatory properties of omega-3 fatty acids and the antioxidant and membrane-stabilizing effects of mono-unsaturated fatty acids found in olive oil. By applying these components topically, the treatment aims to reduce inflammation and edema while improving skin cell membrane homeostasis in patients with venous insufficiency. The formulation was evaluated in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial comparing its efficacy and side effects against Venoroutone.
