olmesartan axetil + amlodipine + hydrochlorothiazide is a fixed-dose triple combination therapy indicated for the treatment of primary hypertension. Amlodipine inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle, resulting in peripheral vasodilation. Hydrochlorothiazide acts on the renal distal tubules to increase the excretion of sodium and water, thereby reducing extracellular fluid volume. Clinical development and trials for this combination in China have been notably led by institutions such as Ruijin Hospital, affiliated with the Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. This triple therapy is typically reserved for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on dual therapy.
