Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oma-CR and Oma-DR are brand names for formulations of omeprazole manufactured and marketed by Rangs Pharmaceuticals. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. By covalently binding to this enzyme, it blocks the final step of acid production, effectively reducing gastric acidity. Oma-CR likely refers to a controlled-release formulation, while Oma-DR refers to a delayed-release formulation, both designed to manage acid-related gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and hypersecretory conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
