Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Omega-3 + Lutein + Astaxanthin is a fixed-dose nutritional combination designed to support ocular health and provide antioxidant protection to retinal tissues. Developed and marketed by companies such as Opdenas Lifesciences (often under the brand OPTOFIT, which may include additional ingredients like zeaxanthin and vitamin A), the formulation combines the macular carotenoid lutein, the potent antioxidant astaxanthin, and anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids. Lutein accumulates in the macula to filter high-energy blue light and neutralize oxidative stress. Astaxanthin provides superior singlet oxygen quenching and anti-inflammatory properties, while omega-3 fatty acids (typically EPA and DHA) support the structural integrity of photoreceptor membranes and improve tear film stability. The combination is primarily used for the prevention and management of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and dry eye syndrome.
