Drug intelligence / Profile preview
KI1107 is a fixed-dose combination of omega-3-acid ethyl esters and rosuvastatin calcium developed by Kuhnil Pharmaceutical. It is indicated for the treatment of patients with hypertriglyceridemia or mixed dyslipidemia whose lipid levels are not sufficiently controlled by statin monotherapy. The product, marketed as Rosuomega, utilizes a unique tablet-in-capsule technology where rosuvastatin tablets are encapsulated within a soft gel capsule containing omega-3-acid ethyl esters. Rosuvastatin functions as an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor to lower LDL cholesterol, while the omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) act as PPAR-alpha agonists to reduce hepatic triglyceride synthesis and enhance clearance. This combination provides a synergistic approach to managing complex lipid profiles by targeting both cholesterol and triglyceride pathways.
