The mechanism of action is attributed to the anti-inflammatory properties of omega-3, which serves as a precursor for specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) such as resolvins and protectins. These compounds actively facilitate the resolution of inflammation and inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and leukotrienes. The trial results demonstrated statistically significant reductions in the number and duration of ulcers, as well as decreased pain levels, suggesting that omega-3 supplementation can improve the quality of life for RAS patients.
