Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and venlafaxine. Omega-3 PUFAs are essential fatty acids commonly used as dietary supplements or prescription medications to lower triglyceride levels and may have anti-inflammatory effects. Venlafaxine is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) antidepressant approved for major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. The combination has been studied in clinical trials for its potential to alleviate symptoms of depression or anxiety; however, evidence suggests that adding omega-3 PUFAs to venlafaxine may help with anxiety symptoms but does not significantly enhance antidepressant effects in first-diagnosed drug-naive major depressive disorder patients[1][3]. There are no known clinically significant interactions between these two agents[2][5].
