Omeprazole + domperidone

Omeprazole + domperidone is a fixed-dose combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and related acid-peptic disorders that do not respond adequately to monotherapy with omeprazole. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells. Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist with prokinetic properties; it enhances gastrointestinal motility by blocking dopamine receptors in the gut, thereby increasing peristalsis and accelerating gastric emptying. The combination provides symptomatic relief from heartburn, chest discomfort, indigestion, and other manifestations of acid reflux by both reducing stomach acidity and improving gastrointestinal motility[1][3][4][5].
