Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ACIDART is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed by Jagdale Industries (marketed under their Juggat Pharma division). It consists of two active ingredients: omeprazole and domperidone. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells, effectively reducing the secretion of gastric acid. Domperidone is a peripheral dopamine D2 receptor antagonist with prokinetic properties; it increases gastrointestinal motility and lower esophageal sphincter pressure, which helps to prevent gastric reflux and alleviate symptoms such as nausea and bloating. ACIDART is primarily indicated for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), dyspepsia, and peptic ulcers, particularly when these conditions are associated with delayed gastric emptying.
