Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of two proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole and rabeprazole) and the antibiotic clarithromycin. Both omeprazole and rabeprazole are small molecule drugs classified as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which act by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells, thereby reducing gastric acid secretion. Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, effectively stopping bacterial growth. This combination would theoretically be used for eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection, which is associated with peptic ulcer disease; however, standard triple therapy regimens typically use only one PPI alongside clarithromycin and another antibiotic such as amoxicillin or metronidazole[6][7]. There are no widely recognized or approved regimens using both omeprazole and rabeprazole together with clarithromycin.
