In the anthroposophic medical tradition, Onopordum acanthium is utilized to support the rhythmic system and stabilize cardiac function, particularly in cases of arrhythmia or heart failure. Hyoscyamus niger provides a sedative effect on the autonomic nervous system due to its content of tropane alkaloids, such as hyoscyamine and scopolamine, which act as muscarinic receptor antagonists.
