Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The opioid addiction vaccine with Advax adjuvant is a preclinical-stage hapten-conjugate vaccine being developed by Vaxine Pty Ltd. for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) and prevention of overdose. This vaccine platform utilizes Vaxine's proprietary Advax adjuvant, a delta inulin polysaccharide-based adjuvant, combined with opioid-based haptens conjugated to immunogenic carrier proteins. Its mechanism of action involves inducing high-titer antibodies that bind to opioid molecules in the peripheral circulation. This sequestration prevents the drugs from crossing the blood-brain barrier and entering the central nervous system, thereby reducing the euphoric and reinforcing effects of the opioids.
