Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Orafti Synergy1 is a prebiotic dietary fiber ingredient composed of oligofructose-enriched inulin (OEI), a specific combination of shorter-chain oligofructose (DP < 10) and longer-chain chicory inulin (DP ≥ 10) in an approximately 50:50 ratio. Developed by Beneo-Orafti, it functions by selectively stimulating the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, particularly bifidobacteria, throughout the colon. While not a traditional pharmaceutical, it is utilized as a therapeutic intervention in clinical research to modulate the gut microbiome and reduce systemic inflammation. It has been investigated in various conditions, including chronic kidney disease (CKD), type 2 diabetes, Crohn's disease, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
